Today Celdara Medical, LLC announced the opening of their first site in New York City. “New York is a hub of biomedical innovation, especially in the city’s many storied academic and clinical research centers. Our expansion allows us to fully participate in this vibrant ecosystem. We believe our model – building strong, mutually beneficial relationships with inventors and innovators to translate their discoveries into the clinic – is ideally suited to the opportunities in NYC,” said Jake Reder, Ph.D., cofounder and CEO of Celdara Medical.
Brandy Houser, Ph.D. was recruited from Brandon Capital Partners to launch and lead the new site. Formerly of Partners HealthCare, Dr. Houser has an ideal background, having been on both sides (venture investor/tech transfer professional) of early stage biotech deals. “The amount of entrepreneurial biotech activity in New York City does not yet reflect the enormous value of the world-class research that is on-going here – this is the opportunity,” said Houser. “We look forward to working with some of the best researchers and their institutions to bring the next generation of therapeutics to patient care.”
Dr. Michael Fanger, cofounder and Chairman of Celdara Medical noted, “New York is also attractive for its proximity to dozens of the world’s largest pharma and biotech companies, both in the city, and in nearby New Jersey. Having the full set of players – creative innovators, experienced investors, small entrepreneurial companies, and large multinationals – is key. We all need each other if we’re going to tackle the biggest problems in medicine.”
Celdara Medical’s NYC office will work closely with the company’s headquarters and labs, located in Lebanon, NH.
